UN says that more than nine hundred millions people worldwide do not have enough food. .Officials says that one hundred million more could go hungry this year because of the food, fuel and financial crises. To deal with the situation, World Food Program has launched a project to help small farmers.
.Many cannot produce enough food even to feed and support their own families. The new effort is called purchase for progress, (P4P) it aims to connect local farmers with dependable markets. Benefits they could get are the chance to sell their surplus at competitive prices.

  8. samah sameer Says:

    Carbohydrate
It is an organic compound with general formula Cm(H2O)n, (ie consists of only of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. The last two are in the 2:1 ratio. Carbohydrates can be viewed as hydrates of carbon. The term is most used in biochemistry, where it is another word for saccharide. When we are talking of saccharides, the carbohydrates can be divided into four chemical groups. They are :
    1.monosaccharides
    2.disaccharide
    3.oligosaccharide
    4.polysaccharide.
In general, the monosaccharides and disaccharides are smaller (lower molecular weight) carbohydrates and they are commonly referred to as sugars. The word saccharide comes from the Greek word σάκχαρον (sákcharon), meaning “sugar”. While the scientific nomenclature of carbohydrates is complicated, the names of the monosaccharides and disaccharides very often end in the suffix -ose. For example, blood sugar is the monosaccharide glucose, table sugar is the disaccharide sucrose, and milk sugar is the disaccharide lactose.Carbohydrates have many functions in living things. Polysaccharides are a storage of energy (e.g., starch and glycogen) and a structural components (e.g., cellulose in plants and chitin in arthropods). The 5-carbon monosaccharide ribose is an important component of coenzymes (e.g., ATP, FAD, and NAD) and the backbone of the genetic molecule known as RNA. The related deoxyribose is a component of DNA. Saccharides and their derivatives include many other important biomolecules that play key roles in the immune system, fertilization, pathogenesis, blood clotting, and development.
    Proteins
Proteins (also known as polypeptides) are organic compounds made of amino acids arranged in a linear chain and folded into a globular form. The amino acids in a polymer are joined together by the peptide bonds between the carboxyl and amino groups of adjacent amino acid residues. The sequence of amino acids in a protein is defined by the sequence of a gene, which is encoded in the genetic code.In general, the genetic code specifies 20 standard amino acids; however, in certain organisms the genetic code can include selenocysteine—and in certain archaea—pyrrolysine. Shortly after or even during synthesis, the residues in a protein are often chemically modified by post-translational modification, which alters the physical and chemical properties, folding, stability, activity, and ultimately, the function of the proteins. Proteins can also work together to achieve a particular function, and they often associate to form stable complexes.
    Minerals
Minerals are inorganic elements which are utilized as structural components of tissue and cellular compounds, as catalysts for enzyme activity, and to maintain normal osmotic and electrochemical gradients that support neuromuscular activity and cell membrane transport activity. Mineral elements may be required in small amounts (milligrams) or in trace amounts (micrograms). Like other biological macromolecules such as polysaccharides and nucleic acids, proteins are essential parts of organisms and participate in virtually every process within cells. Many proteins are enzymes that catalyze biochemical reactions and are vital to metabolism. Proteins also have structural or mechanical functions, such as actin and myosin in muscle and the proteins in the cytoskeleton, which form a system of scaffolding that maintains cell shape. Other proteins are important in cell signaling, immune responses, cell adhesion, and the cell cycle. Proteins are also necessary in animals’ diets, since animals cannot synthesize all the amino acids they need and must obtain essential amino acids from food. Through the process of digestion, animals break down ingested protein into free amino acids that are then used in metabolism.
    Fats
Fats are organic compounds that are made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. They are a source of energy in foods. Fats belong to a group of substances called lipids, and come in liquid or solid form. All fats are combinations of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.Fat is one of the 3 nutrients (along with protein and carbohydrates) that supply calories to the body. Fat provides 9 calories per gram, more than twice the number provided by carbohydrates or protein.Fat is essential for the proper functioning of the body. Fats provide essential fatty acids, which are not made by the body and must be obtained from food. The essential fatty acids are linoleic and linolenic acid. They are important for controlling inflammation, blood clotting, and brain development.
Fat serves as the storage substance for the body’s extra calories. It fills the fat cells (adipose tissue) that help insulate the body. Fats are also an important energy source. When the body has used up the calories from carbohydrates, which occurs after the first 20 minutes of exercise, it begins to depend on the calories from fat.Healthy skin and hair are maintained by fat. Fat helps the body absorb and move the vitamins A, D, E, and K through the bloodstream.

The purpose of our trip to Werkok, Sudan was to continue the work on a new hospital. Keep in mind a hospital to them is nothing more than a metal, pole barn type structure. Anything that isn’t a mud hut(tukle) is quite impressive.

The work completed so far was basically the metal structure, and most of the cement work. Concrete is a rare commodity in Southern Sudan. No components of concrete are found in South Sudan, with the exception of some sand, which is still an hours drive away from where we are, and requires ‘mining’ the sand out of the ground along the Nile river. Gravel, Lime, and other parts of concrete need to be shipped into the area. There are very few roads, and the roads are terrible. Gravel is the closest at about 200 miles away. But costs over $5,000 to have it shipped to our location. And all of these parts need to be mixed the old fashion way. With a hoe, and a wheelbarrow. It makes for very slow work. Putting concrete together for anchoring a post is one thing, but when you need to create the floor of a 90 x 30 foot building, a foot thick, it makes for a lot of work. Of course the gravel, sand, and lime are all dumped in different locations, so there is a lot of wheelbarrowing from one location to another, all being done in 110 plus degree temperature. Luckily we aquired an old cement mixer that aided in the concrete creation process.

Other than pouring concrete we also moved things. Object that were donated to the hospital. Large objects. Now while these things are a blessing to the hospital, it also is a bit of a burden since many things are not needed, and they were donated prior to the completion of the hospital structure. Basically there is no room for this stuff. And there is no garbage collection to throw it away. So as patients are treated in the half built building it was our job to shuffle this equipment from one spot to another. This was unfortunately very time consuming.

While the actual structure of the hospital is being built, some work is being done in the shipping containers that supplies were delivered in. This actually worked quite well, and one container was turned into a O.R. Using shipping containers as buildings must be a popular thing to do in this part of the world. Many other places we visited used shipping containers. Like the airport in Lokiochoggio, Kenya.

Once supplies arrive the next phase will be to put up interior walls using actual wallboard. Along with this wiring will be done for electricity.

I’ve attached a few photos of the hospital building

The high incidence of debilitating and sometimes fatal diseases that persisted in the 1980s and had increased dramatically by 1991 reflected difficult ecological conditions and inadequate diets. The diseases resulting from these conditions were hard to control without substantial capital inputs, a much more adequate health care system, and the education of the population in preventive medicine.

By 1991 health care in Sudan had all but disintegrated. The civil war in southern Sudan destroyed virtually all southern medical facilities except those that the SPLA had rebuilt to treat their own wounded and the hospitals in the three major towns controlled by government forces–Malakal, Waw, and Juba. These facilities were virtually inoperable because of the dearth of the most basic medical supplies. A similar situation existed in northern Sudan, where health care facilities, although not destroyed by war, had been rendered almost impotent by the economic situation. Sudan lacked the hard currency to buy the most elementary drugs, such as antimalarials and antibiotics, and the most basic equipment, such as syringes. Private medical care in the principal towns continued to function but was also hampered by the dearth of pharmaceuticals. In addition, harassed the Bashir government, the private sector particularly the Sudan Medical Association, which was dissolved and many of its members were jailed. Compounding the rapid decline in health care have been the years of famine during most of the 1980s, culminating in the great famine of 1991, which was caused by drought and widespread crop failures in Bahr al Ghazal State and in Darfur and Kurdufan. The famine was so widespread that, according to various estimates, 1.5 million to 7 million Sudanese would perish.

Once supplies arrive the next phase will be to put up interior walls using actual wallboard. Along with this wiring will be done for electricity.

    Smile:

A smile happens when we curl up our lips. It is the perfect accent to any face. We all smile yet no two smiles are the same. A smile is a beautiful universal expression. It is something that we can share with strangers and friends. A smile has powers that words can not explain or define.
Smiles can brighten even the gloomiest days. They can be the fuel behind the fires of positive thinking. A smile can be the gateway to the soul. A smile can melt the strongest of defenses.
smile can make you more attractive as a person and thus can win you friends and influence people positively. It is a powerful tool for good public relations. People will always notice a nice, warm, friendly smile – and even if you have facial features that are not so winning, a smile can overcome the negative effects of those that let you down.
Now to the recipient of a smile. A smile can quite simply make a person’s day. Smiles are signals that you are somebody others are pleased to see and that they are responding favourably to you. Many people get lots of negative input every day – so a smile can warm a soul that’s feeling decidedly chilled and barren for want of human warmth and comfort.
A smile can be like the sun breaking through the clouds on a dismal day. It can restore a person’s faith in their own value and the bigger picture of their world. A smile can make them feel that things might even be getting better. It may well make somebody who’s depressed to the point of contemplating suicide decide to give life another go for at least one more day. Enough smiles may give them the incentive to do something even more positive that could potentially improve their outlook on life considerably.
A smile can chase away gloom and spread sunshine all around. The smile on a warm, friendly face appearing amongst a group of lonely people in a nursing home, for instance, can bring a light into sad, lifeless eyes. The smile of a baby or child is particularly delightful, irresistible and contagious. Who has not experienced the pure pleasure of receiving a radiant smile from one so fresh from heaven? Many a harried mother, physically, mentally and emotionally worn to a frazzle, has had her spirits restored by the beaming smile of her baby.
I remember when my son was a newborn, he seemed to spend so much time crying in the first six weeks of his life. My first baby had suffered extensive brain damage in the course of her birth. As a result she had never been able to give us a big toothless grin. We saw the pleasure on her face and the light in her eyes – but how I longed for her to be able to smile at me.

Despite the great increase in the capital resulting from natural increase and migration; but that migration played a crucial role in the growing population. Khartoum has seen its biggest trends of human migration in modern history; especially in the last decade (1983 – 1993 AD). A carbohydrate is an organic compound with the general formula Cm(H2O)n, that is, consists only of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, the last two in the 2:1 atom ratio. Carbohydrates can be viewed as hydrates of carbon, hence their name.

The term is most common in biochemistry, where it is a synonym of saccharide. The carbohydrates (saccharides) are divided into four chemical groupings: monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. In general, the monosaccharides and disaccharides, which are smaller (lower molecular weight) carbohydrates, are commonly referred to as sugars.[1] The word saccharide comes from the Greek word σάκχαρον (sákcharon), meaning “sugar”. While the scientific nomenclature of carbohydrates is complex, the names of the monosaccharides and disaccharides very often end in the suffix -ose. For example, blood sugar is the monosaccharide glucose, table sugar is the disaccharide sucrose, and milk sugar is the disaccharide lactose (see illustration).

Carbohydrates perform numerous roles in living things. Polysaccharides serve for the storage of energy (e.g., starch and glycogen) and as structural components (e.g., cellulose in plants and chitin in arthropods). The 5-carbon monosaccharide ribose is an important component of coenzymes (e.g., ATP, FAD, and NAD) and the backbone of the genetic molecule known as RNA. The related deoxyribose is a component of DNA. Saccharides and their derivatives include many other important biomolecules that play key roles in the immune system, fertilization, pathogenesis, blood clotting, and development.[2]

In food science and in many informal contexts, the term carbohydrate often means any food that is particularly rich in starch (such as cereals, bread and pasta) or sugar (such as candy, jams and desserts).

    Khartoum
City of Khartoum is the capital of Sudan, Khartoum State is located at the confluence of the White Nile, Blue Nile. The city has an international airport called the Khartoum International Airport. Khartoum has seen steady growth since its inception, the doubling of the population 70 times in the period between 1900 and 1990; where the number of population 3,6 million after it was 50 thousand people. Despite the great increase in the capital resulting from natural increase and migration; but that migration played a crucial role in the growing population. Khartoum has seen its biggest trends of human migration in modern history; especially in the last decade (1983 – 1993 AD). Of the main reasons that helped the flow of immigrants in such large numbers of drought and famine in western Sudan and the civil war in the south of the country. This is in addition to the imbalance in regional development, which required the country since the beginning of the twentieth century.

    4.polysaccharides.
In general, the mono saccharides and saccharides are smaller (lower molecular weight) carbohydrates and they are commonly referred to as sugars. The word saccharides comes from the Greek word σάκχαρον (Sharona), meaning “sugar”. While the scientific nomenclature of carbohydrates is complicated, the names of the mono saccharides and saccharides very often end in the suffix -ode. For example, blood sugar is the polysaccharides glucose, table sugar is the saccharides sucrose, and milk sugar is the saccharides lactose.Carbohydrates have many functions in living things. Polysaccharides are a storage of energy (e.g., starch and glycogen) and a structural components (e.g., cellulose in plants and chitin in arthropods). The 5-carbon polysaccharides ribosomes is an important component of co enzymes (e.g., ATP, FAD, and DNA) and the backbone of the genetic molecule known as RNA. The related ribosomes is a component of DNA. Saccharides and their derivatives include many other important bio molecules that play key roles in the immune system, fertilization, pathogenesis, blood clotting, and development.
    Proteins
Proteins (also known as polypeptides) are organic compounds made of amino acids arranged in a linear chain and folded into a globular form. The amino acids in a polymer are joined together by the peptide bonds between the carbonyl and amino groups of adjacent amino acid residues. The sequence of amino acids in a protein is defined by the sequence of a gene, which is encoded in the genetic code.In general, the genetic code specifies 20 standard amino acids; however, in certain organisms the genetic code can include selenography—and in certain archaic—pyrolysis.
    Minerals
Minerals are inorganic elements which are utilized as structural components of tissue and cellular compounds, as catalysts for enzyme activity, and to maintain normal osmotic and electrochemical gradients that support intramuscular activity and cell membrane transport activity. Proteins also have structural or mechanical functions, such as action and myopic in muscle and the proteins in the exoskeleton, which form a system of scaffolding that maintains cell shape.
All fats are combination’s of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.Fat is one of the 3 nutrients (along with protein and carbohydrates) that supply calories to the body. Fat provides 9 calories per gram, more than twice the number provided by carbohydrates or protein.Fat is essential for the proper functioning of the body. Fats provide essential fatty acids, which are not made by the body and must be obtained from food. The essential fatty acids are linoleum and linoleum acid.

  78. Rafaa Bashir Says:

    Working on a Sudanese Hospital
    Africa Add comments

Many other

  84. Eman Mohamad ali Says:

There was a friends walking in the desert. During the trip the two friends argue slapped the other one on the face. The man who struck in the face hurts, but without uttering a single word written in the sand: Today my friend hit me on my face. The two friends continued their walk in to that found an oasis They decided to shower. The man who hit on the face in the sand by the suspended animation and started drowning, but his friend holds in and saved him from drowning. Having survived the death of a friend wrote on a rock: Today my best friend saved my life. The friend who hit his friend and saved him from death, asked him: What’s in a time when the first hit you wrote in the sand and now, when saving you wrote on the rock?! He replied: When the hurts one we have to write what he did on the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it, but when I made one with us is defined we have to write what he did on the rock where no one type of wind to erase “learned to write the pain on the sand and Sculpture known on the rocks “
